Society has made other people believe that their are less, thats why theres more teen suicides and that is why I completly agree with Emile Durkheim's theory that "suicide is not an individual act." And also this is why there are more girls with low self esteem, more children bullied and beat up because they are diffrent, and more depression into younger adults. Everyone should be equal.
Another reason why I believe society is only getting worst as the years so by is because of Role Performance. People are acting a certain way in certain environments, meaning they arn't taught manners and are just being fake throughout job interviews, meeting your wife-to-be's family and what not. And all the groups that society has created are just seperating us which makes racial inequality happen in many cases. Which is why I am very glad that the Koni 2012 act is taking place, because its the first time in years that people throughout the world, no matter what the statues, group, role, or culture tehy come from are getting together as one to fight for others liberty. And hopfully some day this act will make a big diffrence in the world and in our society and eventually gropus will be extint and and we will all become one.
do you think their is ever a point where roles need to change??...the picture indicates "another world is possible" movements like occupy wall street and the civil rights movements may be seen as radical at somes points but liberal in others... what stance do you take on the changing of roles movements within american history has called for or should they stay subordinate to who ever is above them...?? (food for thought) <(^^)>
ReplyDeleteyou made a great point about how the subordinate ones (childern) are acting as if they are the higher power. Im some situations it may be because the superodinate ones arent playing their roles correctly. I witnessed my nephew get disrespectful with his mother countless of times and i cant say i blame him shes never around him she doesnt provide for him and take care of him like a mother should so thats why he feels like he has the most power over her
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job in this post and i strongly agree with you because i think is great that KONY 2012 is taking place because innocent people and children are suffering because of the actions of cruel and heartless people that we have in many societies.
ReplyDeleteKatherine, I like the direction that you are going with your blog. I think that the picture is excellent and I believe that you are asking some really though provoking questions. I do believe that you should be thougtful about this idea of society better or worse because you don't really know, do you? Don't be so literal with the concepts (i.e. subordinate). You can use the concept without putting it in each sentence and capitalizing it.
ReplyDeleteIm 50/50 while some points you say i definitely agree with i cant completely agree that society has gotten worse. one can argue the exact opposite but you still bring up some good points. I guess the only thing we can say is that whether or not the world has gotten better or worse, all depends on who's eyes you're seeing it through.
